It’s pretty apparent that videos are a growing hot trend in marketing any business. Almost everyone has used video for promotional purposes on their social media feeds or websites. As someone promoting a business, you probably also realize that certain trends in marketing have come and gone through the years. The question is, are videos really necessary in 2022? The short answer is yes, but they have to be done right to be effective. 

A recent market report has shown that 86% of businesses use video as a tool for marketing. That report also revealed that 92% of business owners still feel that their video marketing strategy is a key component of their overall marketing plan. 


Here are a few things to consider before creating your first video. 


Be Different

Take a look at what your direct competition is doing in their videos. Don’t copy them but rather highlight what makes you different. You are your own business, and you have your own personality. Be bold. Emphasize what makes you unique!

Be consistent

If you’re going to make the leap into video content, realize it’s just like any other form of marketing. Whether social media posting, email marketing, or good old-fashioned print, consistency is the key to success. Not only does your schedule have to be consistent, but the style of video you create should be as well. Having a consistent brand lets your audience easily recognize videos as being yours.  

Cross-promote and place your videos everywhere

Edit and upload unique platform-friendly versions to your social media profiles. TikTok has been all the rage recently. Don’t have an account? Get one! Facebook and Instagram are still the go-to for videos. And of course, YouTube is still extremely relevant. Depending on the type of video, websites are an additional platform to publish content.

We know that not everyone is ready to be on video or create them. Remember that study we mentioned earlier?? It also revealed that 23% of those not using videos to promote their businesses didn’t because they felt they did not have the time. And 16% would use videos, but they don’t know where to start.
