Starting a social media page (or pages) for your business is easy. However, getting interaction with your posts is not. Here are some of our best tips for increasing engagement, whether on Facebook, Instagram, or a different platform entirely.

First, consider your audience. Toward whom are your posts geared? Once you’ve thought of that, next think: What would this audience engage with? Even if a post seems engaging, it will perform poorly if it’s geared toward the wrong audience. For example, say you have a social media account for your restaurant, and your followers are mainly customers. You wouldn’t post a picture of your equipment; you would post a picture of the food, as that would be most enticing to your followers.

Another quick way to gain engagement is to use a call-to-action. Most people enjoy feeling heard and sharing their voices. A call to action could be “comment on your favorite menu item below.” If you have the means, you could do a larger call-to-action, like a giveaway or contest.

Next, don’t focus too heavily on numbers. Don’t get us wrong, numbers are important, however, set realistic goals for yourself. If you’re too focused on a number, you might get discouraged. Instead, just try to increase engagement.

These tips should help you develop a stronger social media presence. As you continue to post, keep an eye on what performs well and what doesn’t.
