Finding time to invest in marketing can be difficult, especially as a business owner. But did you know that it only takes 17 days to make something a habit? Using that knowledge, it should take only 17 days to make marketing a habit.

At Fuhrman Creative, we’re passionate about helping small businesses grow. So, we’d love to help you out. Read on for a 17 day marketing plan, starting from scratch.

Day 1: Answer the following questions: Who is your ideal client? What do your raving fans say about you? Why do they do business with you? These questions will help you decide which direction to go with your marketing.

Day 2: Answer the following question: How are you better than your competition?

Day 3: Answer the following question: What do you want to be known for?

Day 4: Answer the following question: Where do your ideal customers hang out?

Day 5: Think back to your answer from Day 4’s question. This could be an online group, a location, or something else entirely. Once you’ve thought of an answer, establish a presence there.

Day 6: Think, what are your ideal client’s problems? How will you offer them a solution?

Day 7: Create your first bit of content. We recommend starting with a social media post.

Day 8: Think ahead for your marketing. Create a content calendar that says what and when you will post. It does not have to be completely finished at this point, but it will give you a foundation to go off of.

Day 9: Update directory listings. Check your Google and Yelp listings. Claim them if they are unclaimed, and update any outdated or incorrect information.

Day 10: If you have not already, create a LinkedIn profile for your business.

Day 11: Find your customers on LinkedIn. Join relevant groups to find more customers.

Day 12: Connect with 5 local businesses on LinkedIn to establish your presence.

Day 13: Take photos of your business and your goods/services. You can use this later for marketing posts.

Day 14: Take a look back at the posts you’ve made so far. What performed well? What didn’t?

Day 15: Use the information you gathered from Day 14 to revise your marketing plan.

Day 16: Reply to any comments on your posts. Interacting with customers is a great way to build rapport.

Day 17: Use your content calendar and create your next week of content.

Congratulations, you’ve made marketing a habit! After day 17, just continue making content and monitoring your accounts. If this still seems like a lot, reach out to us at Fuhrman Creative. We’d love to chat about how we can help with your marketing needs.
